Bonni Ross

My Mum had multiple sclerosis when there was very little known about it and essentially no remedies.  The enormous impact this had on my Dad, my grandparents and other family members — bright, ethical, kind and quirky people, faced with an unsolvable dilemma — shaped my whole childhood and adolescence.  At nine, I was knocking on the doors of people rumoured to be wise, to try to find out why terrible things happened to good people. A long period of cynicism, depression, anger, travel and ineffectual activism followed.  I was lucky.  Good people helped me, every single time I was drowning in the pain of it all.  And then one of them introduced me to Namgyal Rinpoche. What he taught and modelled was that there was a transformative way forward, even for someone like me.  Something in me was willing to work very hard to find out if this was true.  When I hit an unyielding wall, His Holiness the 16th Karmapa affirmed that I should be guided by Namgyal Rinpoche and encouraged me to begin to share the Dharma with others.  That was over 40 years ago. All our Nows are shaped by all our Thens.  This project is meeting some mysterious imperative in myself and it feels like a privilege to be part of making this offering to the world.

Matthew Eades

Matthew Eades was introduced to the dharma in the early seventies by  Ven. Namgyal Rinpoche and over the next forty some years lived mostly in Canada, studying and practicing to the best of his ability. In the early 80's he completed a three year study and retreat program under Rinpoche's guidance. Since then, through the productive relationship with his partner Bonni Ross, Matthew has found his voice in working with wisdom and compassion in the different communities they belong to. His humour and insight into everyday situations make him a valuable member of the 2020 community.

Keith Rowan

Keith Rowan has been involved in Buddha Dharma since the early 1970s and had the good fortune to study and practise under the guidance of Namgyal Rinpoche for 30 years. He has been a supporter of the Wangapeka Study and Retreat Centre since the early 1980s. More recently he has studied with Amnyi Trulchung Rinpoche and helped found the Nelson Buddhist Centre where he has been giving weekly classes for 15 years. Keith lives in Nelson where he also works as an architectural designer.

Rachel Clark

I live with my family in Nelson NZ and have been involved with the dharma community since 2014.  I enjoy surfing, camping and touring surf spots in our camper van, having cuddles with our puppy Chloe, and exploring and trying new things. I can be handy when it comes to figuring out how to do or fix things including being the techie and web designer with Graham in the 20/20 team.

Kath Mitchell

Kath has been studying and practising Buddhadharma for over 30 years. This is central to her life and motivation. She has studied closely with several Namgyal inspired teachers, including Bonni Ross for over 25 years. In earlier days she trained and worked in theatre and then moved to teaching drama in high schools for 16 years. In recent years Kath has enjoyed teaching and learning collaboratively, in a variety of contexts; courses exploring learning support, well-being, meditation, Buddhadharma, communication and creating community. Service to her teacher Bonni Ross, service to continuing to learn through Buddhadharma, and service within Sangha and community is her life purpose. The 20/20 Year of Clear Vision is a beautiful expression and opportunity to be involved in a movement that feels vitally important.

Graham Sandlant

Graham Sandlant was living in London in 1990 and working in biology and IT support when he bumped into Gurdjieff studies and The Work. My teacher James Moore said that of all the “religions” he had studied, Buddhism seemed the closest in feeling to The Work. Returning to New Zealand in 1998, I was drawn to support the Wangapeka Study and Retreat Centre, which is close to where I live in Motueka. Teachings and retreats with Tarchin and Bonni Ross have nudged me into the Buddha Dharma world. Leaving a job in kindergarten administration, I found that no-one was hiring a 55+ year old. I began offering my life as dana, which is transforming the narrow view and sense of low value to one of expansive inclusion. Being part of the 2020 team I can offer whatever experience and skills I have to help craft an environment in which we  provide an opportunity to examine our responses to the world at this time.
